Swimming Gala
29 children from KS2 participated in the B Gala competition. This was our first swimming Gala competition against other large schools in 4 years!
On Wednesday, 11th March, 29 children from KS2 participated in the B Gala competition held at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre. This was our first swimming gala compeition against other large schools in 4 years.
The children swam different individual 25m events such as front stroke, back stroke and breast stroke. Four of the events were relays, where they had to work as a team of four and swim using a woggle and kicking their legs to a certain swimming style.
We competed in 20 evets and came first in an astonishing 11 events! We were also placed second 8 times and third once! What an achievement!
These children were brilliant, not only shown in their efforts in the races, but also cheering, supporting and clapping our team. They also 'REACH' by showing true fair play award by clapping the other school after their events!
Huntingtower Academy therefore won the Relay Competition winning 3 out of 4 events AND the overall winners for getting 50 points from our individual races to win two trophies.
I would like to say a massive 'Thank You' to Mr Turner, Mrs Smith and all the parents/grandparents who came to support the children and helped in providing transports.
