A busy week for football

Please enter an introduction for your news story here.

It has been a busy couple of days with football. On Tuesday, 1st March our A and B teams played against Isaac Newton in the Grantham Football League. Our B team kicked off first, they played lovely football. Passing, team work and even communication throughout the whole match they deserved the 2:0 win, goals coming from Fin and Leo. They all worked extremely hard and it was great to get the clean sheet. Straight after this match our A team played. They created many chances hitting the post twice and narrowly missing, but this did not stop the boys playing their best. Another very impressive performance from the team and you cannot fault their efforts and their team spirit! The game ended 1:1 with Bobby scoring from the penalty spot! Well done boys!

Many thanks to Jack (Mr Dilloway) who refereed the game and to our parents/carers who supported our children.

The next day (Wednesday 2nd March) we had three matches. This time it was a friendly game between Ropsley.  Our first game was our Girls’ Football team. These girls have only played in a tournament back in November, so it was great to arrange a game for them as they turn up every week for training. The girls played with smiles on their faces, they worked really well and supported everyone while playing. Even though Ropsley scored in the first half it didn't stop them trying! Well done girls.

We then had our B team playing 8 a-side. This team carried on from how they finished playing the day before. A great performance shown from everyone involved, team work and passing skills especially trying to open their body's up to play forward. It was a very tight game but Huntingtower got the win in the last couple of minutes with Fin scoring the only goal of the game. Well done once again boys!

At the end after a patient wait our A team played their game. Fantastic game to watch, it was a quick passing game which was great to see. These boys did a great job even though we lost 1:0 there are many positives that they can take away from the game. It was great to see that the player with the ball was being supported by another team mate as well as crossing the ball into the box from wide areas. Well done boys!

I would like to thank Andy for refereeing the matches as well as all the parents/grandparents and carers who stayed and watched the matches especially as it was a chilly evening. Much appreciation to you all.
